BISHOP DOYLE TO CELEBRATE EUCHARIST AT ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI


The Rt. Reverend C. Andrew Doyle, Bishop of the Diocese of Texas will celebrate the Eucharist with members of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the church, 204 Dooley Street, Prairie View, Texas.

St. Francis, in its 62nd year, is commemorating the 48th anniversary of celebrating the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint for the church.  The Prairie View Community Bell Choir will also participate in the service.

Reverend Doyle was elected bishop coadjutor of the Diocese of Texas on May 24, 2008 and was consecrated on November 22, 2008 at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Houston. He was seated as the ninth Bishop of Texas on June 7, 2009 at Christ Church Cathedral, Houston, following the retirement of the Rt. Rev. Don Wimberly.

Born in 1966 in Carbondale, Illinois, and raised in Houston, Bishop Doyle served five years as Canon to the Ordinary prior to his election. Bishop Doyle holds a bachelor of fine arts from the University of North Texas and an M Div from Virginia Theological Seminary. He was ordained deacon in 1995 and priest the following year. He served at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, Austin, and at Christ Church, Temple and St. Francis, College Station, Texas, prior to his appointment to the diocesan staff in 2003.

Bishop Doyle is a gifted and experienced teacher and preacher, and has a particular interest in reaching younger generations in order to partner with older and experienced church members to share wisdom across generations, invigorating growth and membership. He has training and expertise in mediation as well as multicultural ministry. Bishop Doyle is bilingual and looks forward to responding to an increasingly diverse population in the Diocese of Texas.

Bishop Doyle’s ministry includes service as a deputy to General Convention in 2006 and 2009. He served on the Dispatch of Business committee in 2006 and as a legislative aide in 2000. Locally, Bishop Doyle’s ministry includes a broad range of experience on boards including the diocesan foundations, finance, and communication, Mission Funding, the diocesan Executive Board and the Hispanic Commission.

A published author and accomplished painter, Doyle and his wife JoAnne have two daughters, Zoƫ, 8 and Caisa, 13.

The public is invited to the service which will be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.

Prince Brian Hall to address Men’s Prayer Breakfast at St. Francis of Assisi


Mr. Prince Brian Hall is the speaker for the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Prairie View on 204 Dooley Street in Prairie View on June 16, 2012 at 8:30 a.m.  The breakfast is the church’s outreach program that is free and opened to the men of the community.

Hall is a 1977 Economics and Accounting graduate of Prairie View A&M University and currently an elementary education language teacher in the Houston ISD.  His specialty is curriculum design in mathematics for elementary students. Hall also finds time to tutor and mentor kids in Spanish and English.

Prior to his teaching assignment Hall worked in accounting and was a manager for a McDonald Franchise in Houston.  Hall also served as a Customs Officer for the Bahamas Government prior to enrolling at Prairie View A&M University.

Hall holds membership in several civic and social organizations to include Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and the Prairie View Alumni Association.

The emphasis for this Prayer Breakfast is “Fathers are special People Too.”  Honored guests in attendance include the Boy Scouts from Troop 1906 and Cub Scouts from Pack 338 and other Men’s group in the community.

Bryant to address Men’s Breakfast at St. Francis of Assisi

Timothy D. Bryant, II, Eagle Scout and the new Prairie View A&M University is the speaker for the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Prairie View on 204 Dooley Street in Prairie View on May 19 at 8:30 a.m.  The breakfast is the churches outreach program in its 3r year and is free and opened to the men of the community.

Bryant is 21, is a senior agriculture major and agricultural economics major in the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences at Prairie View A&M University. He was one 40 collegiate men and women selected by Agriculture Future of America (AFA) to participate in the National Ag Day activities held in Washington, D.C. March 6-8. 2012.  As the only student selected from a Historically Black College and University to participate in the event, Bryant realized the importance of the event and vowed to share his experiences with other students. Incidentally he was selected after completing an on-line AFA form and networking with AFA representatives for about a year.

On April 18, Bryant was selected as Mr. Prairie View A&M University, a position that will provide an opportunity for him to impact the community on a broader scale and to represent the university externally. Additionally, Bryant is the 2012 winner of the MANRRS Oratorical and Leadership Award and an honor student at the university.

Bryant holds membership in several organizations to include MANRRS, Brothers Leading and Cultivating Knowledge and the Student Government Association.  He was also a member of the PVAMU football team for three years and earned academic honors.

In addition to his academic studies and organization involvement, in Bryant completed the 2011 Summer Research program at Kansas State University. He will participate in 2012 internship with the Monsanto Company in Missouri.  While on intern he will focus on sales and marketing of agricultural products.

Timothy is a 2009 graduate of Houston’s St. Pius X High School. His professional ambition is for a career as a public servant, earn his PhD. and to become a university professor of economics.  He is the eldest son of Scherra and Timothy Bryant, Sr., former Oakland Raiders Football player.

Michael W. Prince is the Men’s Prayer Breakfast speaker.


Michael W. Prince is the speaker for the Men’s Prayer Breakfast set for April 21, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church at 204 Dooley Street in Prairie View.  The event starts at 8:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. 

Prince is a member of the Waller Independent School District (WISD) Board, a position he has held since May 2009.  He has been a resident of Prairie View since 1988 when he enrolled at Prairie View A&M University.

Prince brings a wealth of educational experience and training to the board having served as a substitute teacher for Waller ISD.  He is currently serving as a District Administrator for Tomball ISD, a position that provides and opportunity for his clear decision making on policies and procedures that have an impact on WISD education.

Under his theme and platform of "Working for the Community through the Community," Prince has made a significant impact on programs and activities to enhance the students of the district to include managing an established After School Program for Waller ISD Students, managing an established Feeding Program for Waller ISD Students; serving as a Mentor for the young men of Waller ISD. Under his leadership, he has seen the Waller ISD become a Recognized School District and respected among county schools. For the past several years, Mr. Prince has been providing Radio Broadcast Coverage for Waller Athletics Boys and Girls teams.

When asked why he was running for reelection Prince stated that there was much more to do with the district and he felt it important to continue to provide his vision where all areas in the district are represented at the table.  “I believe my services have been commendable to the district these past three years.”

Always wanting to improve his administrative and management skills for the Board, Prince has led his colleagues with more than the required Continuing Education Units for the state of Texas since being elected in 2009.  Additionally, as a dedicated and committed member, Prince posts a perfect attendance record for all Board Meetings since 2009.

Michael is a Pastor and Founder of Temple of Refuge Church of God in Christ and Founder of Never Ending Worship Bible Club (N. E. W.), an after school program serving Waller ISD since 2006.  He is a Volunteer Coach with the Waller County Baseball Association since 2004 and serves as a Chaplin and Vice President of Economic 4B for the City of Prairie View.   He is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.  In his spare time, he enjoys sports, camping, outdoors, music, and “PEOPLE!”

Mr. Prince holds the Bachelors of Arts degree in Communication from Prairie View A&M University.  Michael and his wife, Stephanie, are the parents of three children who receive their education in Waller ISD schools.  Prince is a candidate for reelection to the WISD position 6 in the May 12, 2012 Election.
