Dr. Bailey joined HHS in 2000 and moved up the ranks. In his current position, he is a skilled facilitator with expertise in a variety of areas including learning and development, employee engagement, talent management, leadership development, employee orientation and onboarding, teambuilding, and customer service. His previous services with Harris Health System included as the Operations Manager–Business and Staff Development, Ancillary and Support Services and the Pharmacy Staff Development & Recruitment Manager in the Department of Pharmacy, Harris Health System in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Bailey has a wonderful rapport with people and has been recognized for his ability to connect with others. He uses his excellent communication skills to help convey concepts and is a skilled practitioner in the use of collaborative, learner-centered techniques.
He holds a Doctorate degree in Higher Education, Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration from “The Jewel of 3rd Ward” - Texas Southern University and a high school diploma from Jack Yates High School, respectively.
Bailey also holds membership in several social, civic and professional organizations to include
Research Association of Minority Professors (RAMP), Association for Talent Development
Texas Southern University Alumni Association, and the Jack Yates National Alumni Association.
Dr. Bailey loves his family. Most of all, he loves the Lord! He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. D. Leon Everett, II. Dr. Bailey is an “adopted member” of Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church (Houston) – where his mother is a longtime member and Dr. Max Miller is the pastor. Currently, Dr. Bailey is an active member of the New Faith Church of Houston where Dr. Andre J. Lewis is the pastor and Dr. T.R. Williams, Sr. is the founder and pastor emeritus.

Bishop Fisher to Celebrate Eucharist and Preach at St. Francis of Assisi
The Rt. Reverend Jeff W. Fisher, Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of Texas is the preacher and celebrant at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Prairie View on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. The public is invited to the service which will be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
Reverend
Fisher serves as the regional bishop of the Eastern Region of the Diocese. He
was elected bishop Suffragan and consecrated in 2012. In addition to his
visitations to parishes and missions, Bishop Fisher serves as executive for
pastoral ministries, including clergy and their families.
He
serves on numerous boards and institutions, including the Episcopal Church
Women, Daughters of the King, Altar Guild, the Little Church Club, All Saints’ Episcopal
School in Tyler, St. Vincent’s House in Galveston and St. James House, the diocesan
retirement community in Baytown.
Bishop Fisher
is known for
his compelling preaching,
his focus on
evangelism and his
encouragement of the laity. He teaches homiletics at the Iona School for
Ministry. A graduate of The University of Texas, Austin, Bishop
Fisher was previously
CFO for Hand
Benefits & Trust,
Inc., Houston. He received a Master in Divinity in 2004 and was awarded
a Doctor of Divinity in 2013, both from Virginia Theological Seminary.
Ordained
in 2004, Bishop Fisher served as curate at St. Mary’s, Cypress, before being
called as rector at St. Alban’s, Waco, where he ushered in a time of unprecedented
growth.
Bishop
Fisher and his wife Susan have two adult sons, Scott and John. The Fishers reside in Tyler, Texas.

the church will recognize Reverend Cynthia Engle for her eight years of service

Reverend Cynthia L. Engle bids farewell to St. Francis of Assisi
The
Reverend Dr. Cynthia L. Engle completed eight years as Rector of St. Francis of
Assisi Episcopal Church in Prairie View on June 30, 2019. Members of the church paid homage to Engle following
the service with a reception and recognition with a plaque and flowers for her
service in the Parish Hall.
Engle
joined St. Francis on July 1, 2011 after a two year stint as Deacon and Priest
with St. Mark's in Beaumont, where she covered all aspects of Parish Ministry
and the implementation of Stephen Ministry. Engle also served as Rector of St.
Paul’s Navasota, concurrently with St. Francis.
As
rector for both churches, Engle brought her experiences in virtually every
aspect of Church life, including officiating, preaching, music ministry, worship
leadership, altar guild, Lay Eucharistic Ministry, acolytes, cross-cultural
outreach with international communities in USA and England working with the
homeless, hospital and chaplaincy. The
members benefitted from the rich experiences which broadened their commitment
to being servants of Christ to the communities at large.
In
parting, Engle stated that while she would have loved to retire from the
Diocese as the rector for the churches, she understands that time brings about
a change and wished the members the best in Christ.
She
began her professional career as a music teacher in Cypress Fairbanks
Independent School District and completed stints with the Corpus Christi
Independent School District, Corpus Christi and Incarnate Word Academy in
Corpus Christi. Her other experiences
include serving as an Adjunct Professor of Old Testament at the Fuller
Theological Seminary Regional Campuses (Texas, California, Colorado, Nevada and
Arizona); Tutorial supervisions in Hebrew grammar and text, Cambridge, UK;
Teaching Assistant, Old Testament and Greek tutorials, Trinity School for
Ministry, Ambridge, PA, teaching at the Philharmonic Summer Workshops in
Laredo. Her other experiences include
stints with the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment Service in Phoenix, AZ and the Bethlehem Haven Shelter
for Women in Pittsburgh, PA.
Reverend
Engle’s service in the ministry began in 1996 in Arizona where she served as Director
for Ioize Worship Group in the Diocese of Arizona, followed with services as a
Volunteer Lay Chaplain with St. Luke's Medical Center in Phoenix, Pastoral
Assistant, Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, Cave Creek, Director of
Christian Education, Christ Church of the Ascension and Deacon, Christ Church
of the Ascension in Paradise Valley, Arizona. She also completed medical
missions to Diocese of Honduras, Central America.
In 2008,
Reverend Engle returned to Texas and was ordained a Deacon in December 2008 in
the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. She
received her ordination in December 2009
Engle
holds the Bachelor of Music from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi,
Master of Divinity from Trinity School for Ministry, Ambridge, PA and the Ph.D.
in Old Testament from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, England and
certificates in continuing education in Hebrew Reading from Fuller Seminary
Southwest and Languages from Phoenix College in Phoenix, Arizona.
She is
the recipient of many awards including academic grants and scholarships from
Trinity in Cambridge and Selwyn College and Faculty of Divinity, University of
Cambridge, Fuller Seminary Southwest and Mercer, the Board of Women Graduates and
the Outstanding Greek Award from Trinity School for Ministry.
As a
musician, she’s enjoyed a lifelong and ongoing freelance musical performances
with Music Societies at Cambridge University, Cambridge, England, the Mesa
Symphony, Mesa, AZ, Symphony North Houston, Corpus Christi Symphony, the Laredo
Philharmonic and the Prairie View A&M University Symphonic Band.
Engle
was born in Waco and grew up in Houston. She has a son Brian, who teaches
gymnastics and daughters Christine, a stylist and theatre director, and a
foster daughter Heather Ryland, an artist.

Canon Kai Ryan Consecrated as Bishop Suffragan - Diocese of Texas
The Rev. Canon Kathryn McCrossen Ryan, former Canon to the Ordinary for The Diocese of Texas, was consecrated in Westover Hills Church of Christ in Austin on Saturday, June 1, 2019. Ryan was elected bishop suffragan at the 170th Diocesan Council at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott February 22, 2019.
She will have oversight of congregations in the western region of the diocese, with an office in Austin. A bishop suffragan is an assisting bishop and serves under the direction of the diocesan bishop, in this case, the Rt. Rev. C. Andrew Doyle, Bishop of Texas. In addition to her Episcopal visitations (and confirmations), Ryan will also serve as the Chair of the Austin-area institutions: The Seminary of the Southwest, St. Stephen’s Episcopal School and El Buen Samaritano.
The Most Rev. Michael Bruce Curry, presiding bishop of The Episcopal Church was the chief consecrator, joined by Bishop Doyle, Bishop Suffragan Jeff W. Fisher, Bishop Assistant Hector Monterroso and other bishops across the country to ordain Ryan. Bishop Doyle was the preacher during the service.

“Kai, you are meant to sing to those who are far off and those who are near. To those who have found their way within God’s garden walls and those who do not yet know the gospel. All people need to be reminded of God’s song,” said Doyle during his sermon.

Prairie View Mayor Jackson is Men's Breakfast Speaker at St. Francis of Assisi
Prairie View Mayor Frank D. Jackson is the speaker for the monthly Men’s Prayer Breakfast set for July 19, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Prairie View. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. with networking and breakfast in the church’s Parish Hall.
Mayor Jackson will provide an update on his administration, accomplishments in the city, the Mayor’s Senior Outreach Project in collaboration with the 2104 ACCESS students of Prairie View A&M University. Economic development and the various "Sister Cities" initiatives with Belize, Columbia, Ghana and Mexico, and the pending relationship with Haiti.
Frank D. Jackson was elected Mayor for the City of Prairie View, Texas on May 4, 2002. He is seeking reelection for a seventh term in May 2014.<p> During his tenure as Mayor Frank D. Seab Smith to address Men's Prayer Breakfast at St. Francis of Assisi

Dr. Seab A. Smith, retired professor of Biology at Prairie View A&M University is the speaker for the Men's Prayer Breakfast at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church on Saturday, June 21, 2014.
The Free event begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall of the church at 204 Dooley Street, Prairie View.
Dr. Smith holds the Doctorate of Education in Science Education from the University of Houston, M.S. Degree in Biology Education from Northwestern University, the B. S. Degree in Horticulture Science from Southern University at Baton Rouge; and further studies at the University of Texas at Austin and Argonne National Laboratory in Idaho Falls, Idaho and the Oak Ridge National Laboratories in Nashville, Tennessee.
Dr. Smith has a tremendous history and experiences in public service, teaching and community involvement. As we will be commemorating the 149th Anniversary of the reading of the Emancipation by General Granger in Galveston on which freed the slaves in Texas on June 19, 1865, Dr. Smith will speak on his background, training and experiences in relation to the freeing of the slaves in Texas and Louisiana, his hometown, and how we can improve the quality of life in our communities.

Mr. Kkoby Girffin from American Red Cross is Men's Breakfast Speaker
Mr. Kkoby Griffin, Regional Disaster Preparedness Manager at American Red Cross, Greater Houston is the speaker for the Men's Prayer Breakfast on May 17 at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church. The Free breakfast runs from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the church's Parish Hall on 204 Dooley Street in Prairie View.
Mr. Griffin will share his community involvement through his personal and professional experiences. He has a wide array of experiences in the military and community involvement having served in the Air National Guard, the Veteran’s Administration and Disaster Preparedness with the American Red Cross, and also an Emergency Management Contractor.
He has a life-long commitment to the community and helping others. Mr. Griffin is most proud of his daughter a college student and his son, a middle school student.
The men are invite to suggest topics for discussions and speakers for future programs and also their desire to participate in the programs.

The Rt. Reverend James Tengatenga, former Bishop of Southern Malawi to confirm members at St. Francis of Assisi
The Rt. Reverend James Tengatenga, former Bishop of Southern Malawi, now dean of the Tucker Foundation at Dartmouth College, in New Hampshire, will celebrate the Eucharist and confirmation of siblings Blessing
and Obinna Ezeoka on May 11 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, 204 Dooley Street in Prairie View.
Bishop Tengatenga has been heavily involved in public life in Malawi primarily as Bishop of Southern Malawi since 1998 and most recently as Chair of the Public Affairs Committee (PAC), a civil society interfaith organisation consisting of Christians and Muslims. PAC was instrumental in leading Malawi’s transition from one-party dictatorship to political pluralism between 1992 and 1994 when the country’s first democratic elections in 30 years were held.
Bishop Tengatenga is also a member of the Malawi National AIDS Commission, which co-ordinates the national response to HIV and AIDS, plus he has chaired the Malawi Council of Churches.
In the wider Anglican Communion, Bishop Tengatenga has been a long-standing member of the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) and of the Standing Committee. He was elected as ACC Chair in 2009, and therefore is also Chair of the Standing Committee. As the Chair and Vice Chair are elected and serve independently of their respective role as a provincial representative or co-opted member, he is able to see out his term until 2016.
Blessing and Obinna are the children of proud parents Vidah Ifeoma and Johnson Onyekwelu Ezeoka of Cypress, and long time members of St. Francis of Assisi.

In other happenings, members of the church will join with area Episcopal Parishes on May 15 in hosting the Diocesan Sharing Faith’s Dinner at 6:00 p.m. in the church’s Parish Hall, 204 Dooley Street. On May 17, the Men's Prayer Breakfast will feature Mr. Kkoby Griffin, Regional Disaster Preparedness Manager at American Red Cross, Greater Houston. The event runs 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. and is free to all. The men are asked to confirm attendance by calling 936-857-3272 or email: stfrancispv@sbcglobal.net.
Mr. Griffin will share his community involvement through his personal and professional experiences in the military and community involvement having served in the Air National Guard, the Veteran’s Administration and Disaster Preparedness with the American Red Cross.
Bishop Tengatenga has been heavily involved in public life in Malawi primarily as Bishop of Southern Malawi since 1998 and most recently as Chair of the Public Affairs Committee (PAC), a civil society interfaith organisation consisting of Christians and Muslims. PAC was instrumental in leading Malawi’s transition from one-party dictatorship to political pluralism between 1992 and 1994 when the country’s first democratic elections in 30 years were held.
Bishop Tengatenga is also a member of the Malawi National AIDS Commission, which co-ordinates the national response to HIV and AIDS, plus he has chaired the Malawi Council of Churches.
In the wider Anglican Communion, Bishop Tengatenga has been a long-standing member of the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) and of the Standing Committee. He was elected as ACC Chair in 2009, and therefore is also Chair of the Standing Committee. As the Chair and Vice Chair are elected and serve independently of their respective role as a provincial representative or co-opted member, he is able to see out his term until 2016.
Blessing and Obinna are the children of proud parents Vidah Ifeoma and Johnson Onyekwelu Ezeoka of Cypress, and long time members of St. Francis of Assisi.

Dr. James E. Johnson is the speaker for the Men’s Prayer Breakfast to be held on this Saturday, April
26, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall of St. Francis of Assisi

Dr. Johnson, retired professor education at Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M University. Dr. Johnson holds the Bachelors Degree in Agriculture from Prairie View A&M University and the Doctorate of Education from Texas A&M University. In addition to his experiences in education, Dr. Johnson is an author, farmer and one time upholsterer.
